Vintage poster promoting the International Milan Exposition of 1906. The theme of the exposition was transportation, in honor of the opening of the Simplon Tunnel. The completion of this transalpine tunnel allowed train travel directly from Paris to Milan for the first time. The design depicts the Roman god Mercury riding at the front of a train as it reaches the exit of the new tunnel.
