C. 1861 lithograph depicting the Philadelphia Zouave Corps, Pennsylvania Volunteers. The soldiers seen parading down Chestnut Street past the Old City Hall, Indepedence Hall and Congress Hall.
The corps known as the ' Zouaves D'Afrique ' were organized as the 114th Pennsylvania Infantry. They saw considerable service and combat during the war. These engagements and duties include: the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Battle of Chancellorsville,the Battle of Gettysburg, the pursuit of Robert E. Lee, the Battles of the Wilderness and the assault and occupation of Petersburg, Virginia.
