Born in Quincy, Massachusetts Hancock's is the largest signature on the Declaration of Independence allegedly so King George could read his name without spectacles. Merchant, statesman and fervent American patriot he served as the president of the Second Continental Congress and was the first and third governor of Massachusetts. 1736-1793
