Description
Dating from 1916, a remarkable photograph from World War One. The photo taken by an American nurse serving at an American Red Cross orphanage center in France. The children are all war orphans. One might not guess that from the good cheer and laughter from the children. The little boy in the center with his fist raised is my favorite aspect of the photo. The children's ages range from roughly four to twelve and in twenty three years from the time this photo was taken their country would be at war once again.
