Artist's Description
1888 political cartoon drawn after the national elections within the United States. The cartoon captioned ' After the election - let Columbia load her social nuisances into one big mortar, and then fire them off to some place where they will do the most good '. The symbolic figure of America, Columbia, is seen stuffing the leadership of the United Labor Party into a cannon just prior to blasting them from the United States. United Labor Party leaders and supporters Father McGlynn, Henry George, Louis Freeland Post and John McMackin are depicted among others.
